According to Pagasa, Wilma maintained its strength, carrying a maximum sustained wind speed of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
The tropical depression is forecast to make its initial landfall over Eastern Samar or Northern Samar this Saturday. It will continue to traverse the Visayas region until Sunday and will then emerge over the Sulu Sea and may pass over northern Palawan by Monday morning.
Wilma is likely to remain as a tropical depression throughout its passage over Visayas and Palawan, but there is an increasing likelihood of weakening into a remnant low-pressure area while traversing the area of Visayas due to dry intrusion from the northeast monsoon. /mr
