Mixx Tanzania announces leadership transition as Angelica Pesha concludes 15-year journey and Louis-Olivier Favot named new CEO

Dar es Salaam. Mixx Tanzania announces a leadership transition, with Angelica Pesha concluding more than 15 years with the company and Louis-Olivier Favot taking over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the business.

The transition marks the end of a significant chapter in the evolution of one of Tanzania’s established digital financial services businesses, while bringing into leadership a fintech executive with extensive experience across banking, microfinance, mobile money and digital financial services.

Pesha’s association with the business dates back to the early days of Tigo Pesa, when mobile money was transforming how Tanzanians moved and managed their finances. For more than 15 years she played a major defining role in the evolution of the business from a mobile-money product within Tigo into a broader fintech organisation offering diversified digital financial services.

During her career with the company, Pesha was involved in the development of innovations including mobile-money interoperability, cross-border money transfers, the Tigo Pesa app, bank-wallet connectivity, international remittances, payments, savings and digital lending. She became CEO in 2020 and subsequently led the business through the transition from Tigo Pesa to Mixx and the development of the organisation’s governance, systems, processes, leadership structures and talent base.

Her tenure has also coincided with Mixx’s growing role in Tanzania’s digital financial ecosystem. In August 2026, Mixx received three recognitions at the TEHAMA Awards, including the Mobile Financial Services Innovation award, while Pesha received the Female ICT Leadership Award.

Commenting on the transition, Erwan Gelebart, CEO of AXIAN Digibank and Fintech, expressed his appreciation for Pesha’s leadership and instrumental contribution to the business’s strong growth, continued development, and strategic progress.

‘Angelica has been more than an important part of Mixx’s journey; she largely built the business, together with her team, from humble beginnings into a major player and trusted partner in the everyday lives of Tanzanians,’ Gelebart said.

He added that Pesha’s contribution extended beyond business results to the people and teams she supported and inspired.
