Cabinet approves Iraq embassy

The cabinet has given the green light to Iraq’s proposal to reopen its embassy in Thailand, said government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek.

The proposal marks a major step forward in fostering bilateral relations, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Thai-Iraq diplomatic ties this year. Iraq had previously closed its embassy in Bangkok during the 2003 Iraq war.

The embassy will enhance coordination between the two countries, especially in energy cooperation.
