HMD Global has given the humble feature phone a practical upgrade with the Nokia 300 Charge, a phone designed to function as both a communication device and a portable power bank.
Its standout feature is a removable 3,700mAh battery, the largest HMD has fitted into a Nokia-branded feature phone. A dedicated ‘Out’ button activates power bank mode, delivering up to 10W of reverse charging to smartphones and accessories. HMD also includes a 4-in-1 cable supporting USB-C, Micro USB and USB-A connections.
The phone offers up to 37 hours of talk time and 40 days of standby power. It also features an LED flashlight that HMD says is four times brighter than the one on the Nokia 105, alongside a textured, rugged exterior weighing 138 grammes.
Keeping its specifications basic, the Nokia 300 Charge runs on the S30+ operating system with a 2.4-inch QVGA display and basic rear camera. It also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD support of up to 32GB.
Currently available in selected markets including the Philippines, the handset costs 2,190 pesos (1,160 baht) and comes in green, sandstone and black.
Its biggest drawback is connectivity. The Nokia 300 Charge relies solely on 2G GSM networks, limiting its usefulness in countries where these networks have been shut down.
For markets where 2G remains active, however, it offers a simple proposition: a phone that can stay powered for weeks and lend its battery to another device when needed.
