OLive Music presents “Songs Without Words”, an evening of poetic beauty, heartfelt emotion and brilliant virtuosity at Sala Sudasiri Sobha, Lat Phrao 41 yaek 7-2, on Sunday at 4pm.
Held in collaboration with the French embassy, the concert marks the Thailand debut of acclaimed French pianist Dimitri Malignan, who will bring timeless music to life. It’s also a rare evening of artistry where Thai heritage meets French elegance.
The programme begins with two beloved compositions by HM King Rama IX, Still On My Mind and Love, arranged for piano by Nat Yontararak. These touching pieces, filled with memory and warmth, open the evening with a uniquely Thai spirit.
Malignan then continues with Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words, known for its graceful, singing melodies. The mood deepens with Chopin’s Polonaises and Mazurkas, which combine fiery energy with delicate lyricism — music full of both strength and sensitivity.
The concert also features Nocturne In F Major, a tender and luminous work by Clara Schumann, one of the Romantic era’s most inspiring women composers. The evening concludes with Robert Schumann’s Faschingsschwank Aus Wien, a grand and joyful celebration of music, wit and imagination.
Born in Paris in 1998, Malignan is one of France’s most promising young pianists who won the Prix Cortot and more than 20 international competitions. He has performed to great acclaim across Europe and North America.
