The Tourist Assistance Centre (TAC) has inspected a lion café following social media reports that a Chinese tourist was bitten by a lion.
TAC officers inspected the café in Chalong district on Tuesday and questioned staff about the incident, amid concerns over tourist safety.
Staff confirmed that a Chinese visitor was bitten during the Chinese New Year period several months ago. The visitor suffered only a minor abrasion and received first aid from staff.
The café said the lion involved was a small cub named Caesar and confirmed that all lions at the venue had been vaccinated.
The café was unable to provide CCTV footage because the recording was no longer available.
