Pilgrims injured when bus crashes in Cha-am

At least 15 passengers on a pilgrimage to a temple in Prachuap Khiri Khan were injured when their chartered bus ran off the road and struck two power poles in Cha-am, in Hua Hin district, on Tuesday morning.

Police radio 191 reported the accident occurred on Phet Kasem Road in tambon Huai Sai Tai about 7.10am.

Cha-am police said the bus was a double decker operated by Waykin Travel Co Ltd. It hit and broke two power poles on the roadside near the VIP Condochain.

Of the 50 passengers, at least 15 sustained injuries to arms and legs, rescuers said. They were taken to hospitals in Hua Hin and Cha-am.

The group was travelling to Prachuap Khiri Khan to make merit at Wat Tham Khao Tao meditation centre in Hua Hin district.

The police investigation into the cause of the crash was continuing.
