Around 100 Thai artists and musicians have travelled to perform at the Beijing International Great Wall Concert 2026, taking place Sep 10-11 , marking 51 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Phinij Jarusombat, president of the Thai-Chinese Cultural Relationship Council (TCCRC), led the delegation to Yanqing district in Beijing on Wednesday, alongside Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, chairwoman of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.
The delegation also included Assoc Prof Sittiwat Lertsiri, Mahidol University deputy president; Piyawat Louilarpprasert, dean of the College of Music and executive director of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra; and Pol Lt Gen Piya Tawichai, vice-chairman of the council.
The international concert has scheduled the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra to showcase Thai musical and cultural soft power right on the Great Wall, strengthening ties between the two nations through art.
The event was located at one of the world’s most renowned landmarks to provide a global platform for Thai artists and musicians.
Former Chinese ambassador to Thailand Guan Mu welcomed the delegation at a dinner and highlighted the longstanding friendship and close ties between the Thai and Chinese peoples.
The performances are intended to promote Thai culture internationally while celebrating the enduring relationship between Thailand and China.
