…..Bullets 2-1 KB

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have stormed into the semifinals of the FDH Bank Cup after defeating Kamuzu Barracks 2-1 in a quarterfinal encounter played on Saturday afternoon at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets showed their class early in the game with Ephraim Kondowe opening the scoring in the 34th minute after a brilliant build-up initiated by Peter Banda.

Just a minute later, Hassan Kajoke doubled the lead, finishing off a clever assist from Kondowe, sending the home fans into celebration.

However, Kamuzu Barracks refused to go down quietly. In the 38th minute, Olson Kanjira pulled one back for the visitors after connecting well with Zeliet Nkhoma’s pass, making it 2-1 before halftime.

The second half saw Kamuzu Barracks pile pressure on Bullets, creating several chances through Kanjira and Nkhoma but Bullets goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba stood firm to protect the lead.

Despite their dominance in the later stages, the soldiers couldn’t find an equalizer as Bullets held on for the win after 09 minutes plus 5 minutes of additional time.

Bullets’ assistant coach, Gilbert Chirwa, expressed satisfaction with the result admitting the second half was a tough battle:

“We played well in the first half, but Kamuzu Barracks came hard on us after the break. However, reaching the semifinals shows the spirit and character of Bullets winning is in our DNA,” said Chirwa.

On the other hand, Kamuzu Barracks coach Nicholas Mhango lamented his team’s missed chances.

“We conceded soft goals early on but in the second half, we created many opportunities which we failed to utilize. That cost us the game,” he said.

Chawanangwa Gumbo was named Man of the Match for his commanding performance in midfield.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets become the third team to secure a semifinal slot, joining Silver Strikers and Civil Service United.

The last spot will be decided tomorrow October 19,2025,when Creck Sporting Club face Mighty Wanderers at Dimba Stadium.
