11 years after, grant group seeks Tinubu’s intervention over outstanding payments

The Grant Community Decide Movement (GCDM) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the alleged non-payment of grants said to have remained unresolved for about 11 years, citing financial hardship and uncertainty among affected members.

In a letter signed by its President, Prof. Greg Stephens, the group urged the Federal Government to clarify the status of the grants and provide a timeline for verification and payment.

The movement comprises grant advocates, pressure groups, handlers, coordinators, non-governmental organisations and cooperative heads across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

It said the prolonged delay had heightened anxiety among members, urging the government to address the matter transparently and provide clarity on the outstanding claims.

The group also requested a meeting with relevant government authorities to resolve outstanding issues, expressing its readiness to engage constructively with the administration.

The GCDM had previously called on the Federal Government to release the alleged grants, which it said were intended to support citizens and ease economic hardship.

Its leaders have claimed that the funds are being held by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), but the claim has not been verified.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor the CBN had publicly clarified the status of the alleged grants.
