2027: Abejide targets 2m Kano votes for Tinubu rolls out N500m empowerment Scheme

House of Representatives member representing Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State Hon. Leke Abejide has charged non-indigenous communities residing in Kano State to unite and mobilise at least two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Abejide made the call in Kano on Saturday during the 2026/2027 Kano State Empowerment Programme organised by the Leke Abejide Foundation where hundreds of millions of naira in financial and material aid were unveiled for women widows and micro-entrepreneurs drawn from Yoruba Ebira Igala and other resident communities.

The lawmaker who serves as the Asiwaju of the Yoruba people in Kano explained that his deep ties with the state informed the outreach having lived and conducted business in Kano for nearly 34 years.

To boost economic self-reliance Abejide announced a N500 million interest-free loan facility earmarked for women organised into cooperative societies alongside direct distributions of food clothing and financial relief to widows.

‘The era of our women going to borrow from financial institutions with interest they cannot pay is over for good’ Abejide declared. ‘As long as you are a serious businesswoman resident here in Kano your season of dryness is over by the grace of God.’

He urged beneficiaries to translate their socio-economic progress into decisive political participation ahead of the next general election.

‘I am not just here to spend my hard-earned resources but I am soliciting for your support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Do not treat the election as a party affair but as a collective responsibility’ he stressed.

Also speaking at the event former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello expressed dissatisfaction with the nearly 500000 votes generated in Kano State for President Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election tasking non-indigenous communities to harness their full voting potential.

‘Your voting population in Kano delivered nearly 500000 votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last presidential election. That performance was not satisfactory and we must do better this time’ Bello asserted.
