Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK) has dedicated the honour awarded to him by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Akinyele Area Council, to Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, saying Oyo State’s future depends largely on investment in its youth and education.
Kareem made the declaration while thanking the executive leadership of MSSN Akinyele Area Council for honouring him after he served as Chairman of the Day at the organisation’s Educational Conference on September 26.
The MSSN leadership presented the award to Kareem during a visit to Senator Alli’s residence after the conference, where he delivered an address on the theme ‘The Legacy Paradox.’
Expressing his appreciation, Kareem said, ‘I am deeply moved by the organisation’s thoughtfulness and their kind acknowledgement of my modest contributions toward the success of the conference.’
However, he said he was dedicating the honour to Senator Alli, whom he described as a strong advocate of education and youth development in Oyo State.
‘With deep humility, I formally dedicate this award to Distinguished Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, whose unquestionable dedication, legislative foresight, and transformational vision for education in Oyo State continue to inspire us all,’ Kareem said.
According to him, Senator Alli ‘has consistently demonstrated that investment in human capital and youth development is the most reliable pathway to sustainable societal progress.’
He added that the senator’s ‘exemplary leadership and relentless advocacy for qualitative learning environments is a representation of hope for students, educators, and political actors across our state.’
Kareem also reflected on the theme of the MSSN conference, saying the concept of legacy had become increasingly important in a society where lasting impact was sometimes confused with temporary popularity.
‘The theme of the conference, ‘The Legacy Paradox’, remains extraordinarily relevant in our contemporary society where true impact is often confused with transient popularity,’ he said.
He stressed that genuine legacy should be measured by what individuals contribute to future generations, not by immediate recognition.
‘Legacy is built not on self-serving pursuits or immediate praise, but on the moral fortitude, intellectual depth, and institutional support we bequeath to the coming generations,’ Kareem said.
He commended the leadership and members of MSSN Akinyele Area Council for creating a platform for intellectual and moral engagement among young people.
‘The leadership and members of MSSN Akinyele Area Council deserve immense praise for convening an educational conference that critically addressed this paradox, providing our young people with an essential platform for intellectual enrichment and moral reflection,’ he said.
Kareem urged MSSN and other student organisations across Oyo State to remain committed to education, discipline and youth development.
‘I urge the leadership of MSSN and all student bodies across the state to remain steadfast in their noble mission to advance functional education, ethical discipline, and moral uprightness in our society,’ he stated.
He further called on faith-based student organisations to continue shaping responsible future leaders.
‘At a time when societal values face continuous dilution, faith-based student organisations must continue to act as moral compasses, moulding young minds into patriotic, competent, and responsible leaders of tomorrow,’ Kareem said.
Kareem reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes that promote education and youth empowerment, saying, ‘I reaffirm my unshakeable commitment to supporting educational initiatives and community development programmes that empower our youth and secure a brighter, more prosperous future for Oyo State.’
