Akwa United and Godswill Akpabio United will meet in a preseason friendly at the Uyo Township Stadium today, October 2, with kick-off scheduled for 10am.
The match gives both clubs another chance to test their squads before the 2026/27 Nigeria National League season. Akwa United coach Paul Offor is preparing for his second season in charge, while Edward Green has taken over at Godswill Akpabio United.
The sides know each other well. Their two league meetings last season ended in draws, although Akwa United also beat their neighbours in a friendly and won their State FA Cup final meeting on penalties.
They have been placed in separate NNL groups this season, so Friday’s game offers supporters an early look at two local sides aiming to challenge for promotion.
