The National APC Christian Leaders’ Forum of Nigeria (NACLFON) has said that Christians all over the country will vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in next year’s general election.
The Rivers State Coordinator of the forum, Archbishop Lucky Aroh, gave the assurance during an interdenominational prayer summit in Oyigbo.
Speaking on the theme: ‘In due Season,’ the coordinator listed the numerous achievements of the Tinubu administration, saying the government had done very well.
He urged fellow Nigerians to mount pressure on their governors to deliver on good governance, especially as President Tinubu’s administration has empowered them to do so.
Aroh explained that most states have failed to deliver infrastructure and economic growth that is commensurate with the huge monthly federal allocations accruing to them. He said: ‘We cannot continue to focus on public complaints without holding our governors to account.
‘Yes, Nigerians are complaining about President Tinubu’s administration, but they have failed to hold the governors accountable.
‘The fuel subsidy removal of the Tinubu-led administration, no doubt, affected the cost of living. But let’s look at the brighter side.’
Also, Oyigbo Local Government Area APC Chairman, Mr. Acho Elechi, hailed the group for supporting President Tinubu’s re-election and pledged to strengthen collaborations with the church.
‘I’m here to tell the people of Oyigbo to work with this group because they mean well for our country.
‘Here in Oyigbo, APC has recorded an alarming increase in voter registration and PVCs collection.
‘My people are ready with their PVCs. In my ward, Oyigbo Ward 9 alone, we have more than 20,000 registered voters,’ he said.
Elechi emphasised the need for governors to deliver democratic dividends to ameliorate the sufferings caused by subsidy removal.
‘President Tinubu has delivered more funds to the states and local governments. It is left for them to deliver development to the grassroots.
This is the only way to complement federal government’s efforts,’ he stated.
The Oyigbo Coordinator of the forum, Mr. Elias Chidume, said the group had so far massively mobilised Christians for the APC ahead of the general election.
He noted that praying for the success of the APC was part the forum’s collective commitment.
‘Aside prayers, we have widely interfaced with residents of Oyigbo. We are doing this to ensure that the residents, including women, vote massively for President Tinubu and all APC candidates,’ he said.
