At just 16, Nigerian teenage footballer Oluwakemi Adegbuyi is making a strong impression on the women’s game after a remarkable 2026 season.

The Mushin, Lagos-born player has won three major individual awards, emerging as one of the country’s promising young talents.

Adegbuyi was named the NWFL Premiership Player of the Season, WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers Best Player and WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup Best Player.

Her performances have attracted attention within Nigerian football, particularly from those who have followed her development through Lagos’ competitive grassroots football system.

Adegbuyi came through the FC Robo youth system in Mushin, the same pathway that produced Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala.

Observers who watched her play for Robo’s youth teams as early as 2023 identified her technical ability, work rate and composure on the ball as qualities that could take her far in the game.

Adegbuyi has also spoken about her ambition to follow in Oshoala’s footsteps at both club and international levels.

Her rapid progression from grassroots football in Mushin to recognition at domestic and regional levels highlights the potential within Nigeria’s women’s football development system.

With three major individual awards already secured in 2026, Adegbuyi’s emergence adds another name to the growing pool of young Nigerian female footballers attracting attention.

From the football pitches of Mushin to the national and regional stage, the 16-year-old is building a promising career in the women’s game.
