The Diocesan Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Dr Isaac Oluyamo, has urged the people of Osun State to embrace peace, reconciliation and forgiveness following the conclusion of the 2026 governorship election.
Oluyamo made the call during a prayer session at Open Heaven Anglican Church, Ilase-Ijesa, where he led the congregation in prayers for the state’s leadership, security, peace and prosperity.
The Bishop congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory and prayed for wisdom, strength and divine direction as he begins his second term in office.
He urged Adeleke to lead the state with justice, humility and commitment to the welfare of the people as Osun moves beyond the election.
Oluyamo also prayed for Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi and appealed to residents of the Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District to accept the senator’s apology and move beyond disagreements arising from the election.
He urged the people to continue supporting Fadahunsi’s representation, citing his contributions to empowerment, development and youth advancement.
The Bishop stressed that political differences should not be allowed to damage relationships, families and communities, urging those divided by the election to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation.
‘Elections will come and go, but relationships, families, communities and the bonds of brotherhood must endure,’ Oluyamo said, urging the people to bury bitterness and work towards rebuilding relationships affected by political disagreements.
He also prayed against accidents, sudden deaths and other calamities, asking God to protect residents in their homes, workplaces, farms, schools and on the roads, particularly during the remaining months of 2026.
