Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved boards of government agencies and terminated the appointments of political appointees ahead of his second-term inauguration on October 16.
The affected appointees include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, announced the development in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, the decision was taken as the governor’s first term gradually winds down ahead of his second term.
However, the dissolution does not affect chairmen and members of statutory commissions, including the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission.
Similarly, the chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission will remain in office, although their respective boards have been dissolved.
The statement added that Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor were also exempted from the termination of appointments.
Oyebanji thanked the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to the state.
He wished them success in their future endeavours.
