Oyo 2027: ADC guber candidate Adegoke promises rural electrification, security in Ibarapa

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, has promised to end years of electricity blackout in Ibarapa through rural electrification and solar power projects if elected governor in 2027.

Adegoke made the promise in Igbo-Ora during a thank-you visit to residents of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Local Government Areas.

He said he would establish a solar farm to generate electricity for the entire Ibarapa zone, adding that the project would reduce the area’s dependence on the national grid and provide a more stable power supply.

The ADC candidate said rural electrification would also strengthen security in the area, while the implementation of local government autonomy would empower traditional rulers to play greater roles in securing their domains.

Adegoke also promised to provide farmers with modern agricultural equipment and high-yield seeds to boost production.

He said his training in Agricultural Economics at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, had given him an understanding of the challenges facing farmers.

‘I was trained at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as an Agric-Economist, and I know the needs of our farmers. I will provide them with the necessary resources and support immediately I assume office as the Executive Governor of Oyo State,’ he said.

He added that farmers would have access to loans through their various cooperative societies as part of the administration’s plans to deliver the dividends of democracy.

Earlier, the ADC Youth Leader in Ibarapa Central, Ayodele Olanlere, appealed to Adegoke to prioritise stable electricity and economic opportunities for residents of the area.

Olanlere also requested healthcare support and free education for youths.

He thanked the governorship candidate for his promise on rural electrification, expressing optimism that Adegoke would fulfil it if elected.
