The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses (SFGH) in the territory.
Wike also approved the creation of a dedicated division within the Department of Land Administration to take over the committee’s former duties, according to a statement issued yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
The committee had completed its mandate, but its secretariat was retained temporarily to handle outstanding issues before Wike ordered its closure.
Members of the public seeking information on the sale of Federal Government houses in the FCT have been directed to the Department of Land Administration. The FCT Administration warned that neither the committee nor its secretariat existed any longer, cautioning the public against individuals who might pose as former officials or staff to perpetrate fraud.
‘The general public is hereby enjoined to henceforth approach the Department of Land Administration on all issues relating to sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT,’ the statement said, adding that the directive was with immediate effect.
