The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has visited the leader of the Qadiriyya Sufi Order in Africa, Sheikh Qaribullah Kabara, in Kano, as part of nationwide consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Yari said the consultations were aimed at seeking the blessings, prayers and spiritual guidance of prominent religious leaders and traditional rulers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.
He explained that the presidential campaign council also adopted town halls as part of its strategy for direct engagement with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 election.
According to him, the meetings will enable the council to present the achievements of the Tinubu administration, outline its proposed second-term agenda and, importantly, listen to the concerns and expectations of citizens.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting with Sheikh Kabara, Yari said: ‘We are going to continue with these consultations, and we are in Kano to seek the blessings and spiritual guidance of the Sheikhs.
”We were in Bauchi, Jos and Kaduna, where we met with Izala and Tijjaniyya leaders, and now we are meeting with the Qadiriyya sect.’
Yari said seeking prayers and divine guidance were important to the campaign and the affairs of the country. He expressed optimism that if re-elected in 2027, the Tinubu administration would further strengthen the economy and improve the living conditions of citizens.
According to him, some of the administration’s economic reforms had contributed to greater stability in prices and the foreign exchange market.
‘Due to the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, today prices have truly stabilised, while the dollar is not only available but the foreign exchange rate is no longer moving up crazily like before,’ Yari said.
He expressed confidence that Nigerians would experience greater benefits from the government’s economic policies as the reforms continue to take shape.
Sheikh Kabara said religious leaders would continue to pray for political leaders and for the peace, stability and progress of Nigeria.
The cleric described Yari’s appointment as director-general of the presidential campaign council as recognition of his experience and leadership qualities.
