Davido questions delay in uploading Osun Governorship results to IReV Portal

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has questioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the delay in uploading results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to the commission’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

In a post on X on Saturday afternoon, Davido expressed concern that results had not appeared on the portal several hours after voting ended at polling units across the state.

‘INEC, it is now 2:33 p.m., yet no result has been uploaded to the IReV portal. What is the delay? Nigerians deserve transparency and timely updates,’ the singer said, according to reports.

Davido subsequently urged voters to remain at their polling units and monitor the collation and transmission of their results.

He called on voters to ensure that figures recorded at their polling units were correctly entered on the electronic EC8A result form and that the results were uploaded to IReV.

‘Make sure your polling unit results are uploaded on IReV in your presence and make sure the figures are entered on eEC8A,’ he said, adding: ‘We will follow our votes bumper to bumper!’

The singer also cautioned voters against relying on unofficial results circulating on social media, urging them to verify results through the official electoral process.

His comments came as sorting and counting of ballots got underway across the state following the conclusion of voting.

However, INEC subsequently began uploading results to the IReV portal. By about 4:03 p.m., 402 polling-unit results had reportedly been uploaded out of 3,763 expected results, representing 10.68 per cent of the total.

Earlier reports also showed that INEC had uploaded 325 polling-unit results, or 8.64 per cent, as the electronic transmission process progressed.

The development has placed renewed attention on the transparency of the electronic results-transmission process as voters, political parties and observers await the outcome of the Osun governorship election.

INEC had assured stakeholders ahead of the election that polling-unit results would be uploaded to IReV for public viewing.

As the collation process continues, attention remains focused on the timely uploading of polling-unit results and the extent to which the figures on the IReV portal correspond with the results recorded at the various polling units.
