ASK any golfer, and they’ll probably tell you that golf trips are some of the best times to be had. From packing your gear to heading to faraway places with your treasured clubs, there’s something special about taking a trip specifically to play golf.
Last week, BusinessMirror, along with friends from print and online media were treated to a Cebu getaway to experience hospitality like no other. NUSTAR Resort’s Cebu property is destination in itself. Luxurious rooms, a world-class casino, fine dining options, and a mall with shops and amenities to rival those in Europe and Asia’s top destinations.
Add a golf tournament to the mix and we were in for an amazing four days.

On clear days, Bohol is even visible in the distance. This self-contained luxury peninsula just outside the city center is a hub for luxury shopping, dining, and gaming.
It’s my first time on the property and embarrassing as it is to admit, my first time in Cebu. Yes, I’ve never been to the Queen City of the South, shame, shame.
Anyway, the Cebu welcome was well worth the wait as the NUSTAR team pulled all the stops to ensure we were pampered the entire time we were there. NUSTAR alongside Fili Hotel, are two of Cebu’s top accommodations.
At NUSTAR where we stayed, the rooms were opulent without being over the top. Service was also topnotch, and the staff were courteous and warm, always ready to assist and always with a smile.
Dining options at NUSTAR are worth the trip on their own. Mott32, the Michelin-awarded modern Chinese restaurant features signature dishes like the Applewood Smoked Peking Duck and my favorite, the Smoked Black Cod.
The dishes are familiar Cantonese, Beijing and Shanghai classics, given a modern interpretation. The result is an elevated Chinese dining experience that is hard to match.
Il Primo, an Italian steakhouse, covers any carnivore cravings with their selection of prime steaks, as well as authentic Italian dishes. Fina, an upscale Filipino restaurant, takes care of local fare. Guests that are craving for regional Filipino food need to look no further as Fina offers local cuisine done right.

NUSTAR Golf 2026 was held at Alta Vista Golf and Coutry Club, the exclusive club overlooking Cebu City. Nestled atop the hills and mountains just minutes from the city center, Alta Vista provides stunning vistas and unique challenges.
The tournament, played in scramble format made for a fun day out for guests that included VIP guests, NUSTAR executives, business partners and friends from the media.
Not even constant rain could dampen the spirits and camaraderie among the participants. To cap off the event, the awards dinner at NUSTAR ballroom featured great entertainment, awesome food, free flowing drinks, and for the winners, premium prizes.
The NUSTAR experience is something every golfer and their family can surely enjoy. It’s a great excuse to head south for a weekend and feel the warmth of Cebuano hospitality. Golf, food, and fun for the whole family-a break every golfer dreams of.
