Suspended MBC Director General George Kasakula, others feast MK480m in a month for druming up Chakwera’s campaign

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Busted! It has been emerged that suspended Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Director General George Kasakula and colleagues plundered funds amounting to over MK400 million meant to be given to staff members for election coverages in just a month.

Documents in our possession indicates that Kasakula in collaboration with Jack Kamwachale, Monica Likoswe only gave election allowances to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) operatives living out those deemed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadets.

However according to the bank statement, disappointing thing is that names of those cadets are appearing on list but none of them were given the allowances.

In addition, the allowances were given to MCP operatives who had just joined MBC three months ago and they are on probation while others on contract.

Among others, Mphatso Tebulo, Charity Kabano and Tupochere Phambala who were just a month old by elections date were given election allowance and being tasked to be a supervisor living professionals who served MBC between 20 to 17 years now.

Inside sources reveal that “This is a strange thing to happen at MBC because traditionally when it’s election time each staff member was automatically given election allowance as long as that person is on duty at that particular period”.

Call to investigate

There is however public calls for authorities including the Anti-Corruption Bureau Bureau (ACB) to institute tan investigation on the matter.

Meanwhile, Kasakula, Kamwachale, Monica Likoswe and colleagues also needs to explain where they are keeping proceeds of plots they sold at Ngumbe, Matiya, Nsanje and other places.

Not only that Kasakula also needs to be investigated for lieing that he has procured an Outside Broadcasting Van and the issue of massive recruitment without any job placement.

Effort to delete audit information

It is established that someone at internal Audit team has been tasked to tamper with all documents Kasakula and his team used to siphon funds so that when government external auditors go to MBC should find nothing.

As agent of darkness have been sent to distort information in office computers but we are in possession of the said documents about abused funds on OB Van (Italy) Plots and MEC election money.

Unholly salary Increment

Our team has also discovered that Kasakula and his MCP messinaries had their higher salary increament as compared to other staff of the same grade or even high and below. This demotivated majority of the employees at MBC.

Suspicious recruitment

Ousted MCP recruited George Kasakula as MBC DG, Jack Kamwachale as Director of Finance, Aiden Gumen as Director of Engineering, Theresa Sunganani as Director of Commercials, Chisomo Mwamadi as Public Relations Manager, Rex Chikoko as Director of News, Kettie Kujaliwa as Director of Programmes, Emmanuel Thuwala as Controller Radio One, Takondwa Jumbe Regional Manager Centre, Monica Likoswe Controller Finance, Peter Makawa Regional Manager (who has ran away from Malawi to US), Thoko Chikuse IT Manager.

This publication understands that Kasakula and the team continued on recruitment up until a week after 16 September, 2025.

Kasakula is on suspension pending office abuse investigation.

Is Mutharika’s vision for free education in Malawi attainable?

In the verdant fields of Malawi’s future, where the seeds of knowledge are sown with hope and nurtured with resolve, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has emerged as a radiant sun, illuminating the path toward an era where education is a birthright, not a privilege.

His recent assurance to the nation that, come January 2026, both primary and secondary education will be free of charge is not just a policy announcement—it is a symphony of commitment, a testament to a leader who walks the talk, and a promise etched in the hearts of millions of Malawians yearning for a brighter tomorrow.

The promise of free education has long been a beacon on the campaign trail, a lighthouse guiding the aspirations of parents and children alike.

Yet, while many have spoken these words in the corridors of power, few have dared to weave them into the fabric of reality.

Mutharika, however, stands as a towering oak in a forest of fleeting shadows, whose roots are firmly planted in the soil of action and whose branches reach ambitiously toward the heavens of possibility.

This assurance transcends mere political rhetoric; it is a solemn vow—a golden thread in the tapestry of his leadership that shines with unwavering brilliance.

Opposition voices, notably the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), attempted to cast doubts upon this vision, dismissing it as an unattainable dream, a castle built on clouds destined to dissolve with the morning sun.

Their skepticism, while perhaps grounded in political rivalry, echoes a lament too familiar in the annals of Malawian governance: the persistent cycle of promises made and promises broken.

Yet, in the face of such cynicism, President Mutharika’s declaration rings out like a clarion call, dispelling doubts with the clarity of a mountain spring.

It is not merely a statement; it is a challenge to the status quo, a bold stride toward a future where education ceases to be a commodity and becomes the fertile ground from which the nation’s prosperity will bloom.

To commend Mutharika is to recognize a gardener who tends to his garden with diligence and care, ensuring that every seed planted is nurtured to flourish.

His leadership is a masterclass in consistency and integrity, a rare jewel sparkling amid a landscape often clouded by unfulfilled pledges. Where others have sown discord and dashed hopes, Mutharika cultivates trust and harvests progress.

The Malawi Congress Party’s failure to deliver on similar promises is a stark contrast—like a tree that promises shade but bears only barren branches.

In this light, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under Mutharika’s stewardship shines as a lighthouse of reliability, guiding the nation away from the rocky shores of disappointment.

Education, in the hands of President Mutharika, is not a mere policy instrument but a sacred torch passed from one generation to the next.

His vision is akin to the flowing waters of the Shire River, unstoppable and life-giving, destined to carve pathways of opportunity through the rocky terrains of poverty and inequality.

By making education free, he is breaking the chains that have long bound Malawian children to the shackles of illiteracy and limited prospects.

This is a gift that keeps on giving—a wellspring of empowerment that will ripple through communities, lifting families and igniting the nation’s collective potential.

The metaphorical garden of Malawi’s future is now set to bloom with vibrant colors, each flower representing a child once barred from the classroom doors by the harsh toll of school fees.

The promise of free education is a radiant sunrise, banishing the long night of exclusion and ushering in a dawn of inclusivity and opportunity.

Under Mutharika’s watchful eye, the classrooms will transform into sanctuaries of learning, where every child, regardless of their economic background, can drink from the fountain of knowledge and grow into the architects of Malawi’s destiny.

In the grand theatre of leadership, President Mutharika plays the role of a seasoned conductor, orchestrating the symphony of national development with precision and passion.

His announcement is the crescendo of a movement toward social justice, a harmonious blend of compassion and pragmatism that resonates deeply with the people’s aspirations.

The MCP’s skepticism, while part of the democratic discourse, pales in comparison to the tangible strides Mutharika has made—a testament to a leader who does not merely promise the moon but also builds the ladder to reach it.

The journey to free education is no small feat; it is a Herculean task demanding vision, resources, and unwavering dedication.

Yet, President Mutharika’s assurance is a beacon that pierces through the fog of uncertainty, a lighthouse guiding the nation’s ship safely to the shores of educational equity.

His leadership transforms the abstract ideal of free schooling into a concrete reality, a bridge spanning the chasm between aspiration and achievement.

To laud President Mutharika is to celebrate a sculptor who chisels away the marble of obstacles to reveal a masterpiece of potential and promise.

His administration’s commitment to free education is the chisel’s steady hand, carving pathways where none seemed possible.

It is an emblem of hope, a clarion call to every Malawian child that their dreams are valid and their future bright.

Mutharika’s pledge to make primary and secondary education free by January 2026 is more than a political milestone—it is a luminous star in Malawi’s firmament, guiding generations toward enlightenment and prosperity.

His leadership is the gentle rain that nourishes the seedlings of knowledge, ensuring they grow tall and strong against the winds of adversity.

The MCP’s shadow of doubt only serves to highlight the brilliance of Mutharika’s resolve and the DPP ’s unwavering commitment to the people.

As the nation stands on the cusp of this transformative journey, one thing is clear: under Mutharika’s stewardship, the promise of free education is not a fleeting dream but a blossoming reality, heralding a new dawn for Malawi’s children and the country’s future.

‘Wife Swap: Real Housewives Edition’ Delayed Following Wendy Osefo’s Arrest

Wendy and Eddie made headlines earlier this month when they were indicted on insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and making false statements to police officers, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.

The pair were booked in Westminster, Maryland, and were released the following day after posting $50,000 bond each, a rep for the Carroll County Detention Center confirmed to Us.

“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” a rep for the pair told Us in a statement. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.

One year earlier, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at Wendy and Eddie’s home. After returning from a trip to Jamaica in 2024, the duo claimed several designer bags and pieces of jewelry had been stolen.

“There was a screen with damage laying on the roof, and the window was not locked. To go in or out of that window, one has to step on the toilet. The toilet lid was down and had no debris on it. When Sheriff’s office personnel stepped onto the roof and back into the home, they tracked roof ‘grit’ back inside,” the docs read.

The docs continued, “The Osefos had an ADT system and a ring camera. The Osefos activated the ADT alarm system upon leaving for vacation. During the time they were away, there was no motion detected inside the residence. There was activity, such as package deliveries, on the ring camera that was monitored remotely by the Osefos.”

Eddie shared statements with two insurance companies regarding the stolen items at the time. He and Wendy signed their statements, claiming $2,500 in damages to their home and $450,000 in property.

After the alleged burglary, Eddie included Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band in the insurance claim. They received a $25,380 settlement from Travelers Insurance. In a second claim with Jewelers Mutual Insurance, Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band was not mentioned nor was the Travelers Insurance settlement.

Authorities reportedly saw photographs of Wendy wearing the stolen band after the reported burglary A search and seizure warrant on their home found that at least 15 items Wendy and Eddie claimed were stolen were in the house. In docs obtained by Us, the investigation found that the pair were allegedly “burdened by substantial debt.”

NFL Star Cody Ford’s Ex-Fiance Explains Why She Wishes She Kept the Ring

Influencer Tianna Robillard is shedding more light on her broken engagement with NFL player Cody Ford.

“I got [fan] messages like, ‘Girl we all know these men do this. Why wouldn’t you just stay for whatever?’ Dude, I’m in this for love,” Robillard, 29, said on the Sunday, October 19, episode of the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. “We’re all put on this Earth for love, like, I was not going to stay in something that didn’t serve me.”

Cincinnati Bengals offensive guard Ford, 28, proposed to Robillard in April 2024 after two years of dating. Robillard announced their breakup via TikTok just two months later.

“I was terrified at first,” she recalled of being newly single. “I had my old beater [car] still, thank God, and I lived with [him]. I was like, ‘Where am I going to go and what am I going to do?’ Went back to what I was comfortable with, got my bearings. I think, in those moments, people thought I was going to stay in something that was not [right.] I didn’t care how scared I was, I didn’t care where I was going to go.”

Robillard quickly packed up her belongings and left for a friend’s house, even leaving her diamond engagement ring behind.

“On the record, I wish I would have kept that s***,” Robillard said, noting Ford didn’t ask for the rock back when they broke up. “We had little bowls that were engraved ’T’ and whatever the f*** [his said] and I left both of them on the counter, put my ring in there. I didn’t even want [anything] from this man — and I didn’t need nothing from this man, and I left the ring.”

Robillard further joked that Ford can’t give the ring to a future partner because it had an “engraved f***ing nickname” inside the band.

“Good f***ing luck,” she quipped, before getting emotional about leaving their shared pets behind. “The can of worms I’ve had yet to open is the dogs, like, I can’t even look at my camera roll. I left two little chewy toys with a note that said something like, ‘Here’s your f***ing ring, thanks for nothing.’”

Robillard later moved on with fellow influencer Adrien Nuñez after meeting through social media.

“I met Adrien a year ago,” she recalled on Sunday’s episode. “Adrien had a cornhole set that was Bengals gear. He did something with Amazon Prime Day and needed to pick a team, [and said in a video], ‘I guess love’s not real’ and crushed his Bengals board in a video.”

The video, a response to Robillard and Ford’s breakup, eventually got her attention.

“I’m like, ‘OK, that’s really nice of this man to support me,’” she said. “That turns into [social media users thinking our] energies match and [saying,] ‘They should get together.’ I was like, ‘OK, cool.’ I followed him after he made that.”

Robillard and Nuñez, 26, soon started exchanging DMs before meeting in person during New York Fashion Week.

“We met in September [and] we started dating at the beginning of December,” she said. “I think there was a moment of, ‘Is she moving too quick?’ To that I say, I probably did.”

2025 TNM Super league: Civil complete a double over cops

…Civil 3-1 Eagles

LILONGWE -(MaraviPost)-Civil Service United FC on Sunday continued with a splendid run in the league this season as they registered another emphatic 3-1 home victory over Blue Eagles to complete a double this season at Civo Stadium.

Civil Service started brightly and created their first chance in the 7th minute when Righteous Banda unleashed a thunderous shot.

Elias Missi parried it away, but the ball ricocheted off defender Sankhani Mkandawire, struck the upright, and was caught by Missi at the second attempt.

Head coach Deklek Msakakuona was forced into an early substitution in the 15th minute when right-back Davie Malenguka experienced dizziness and required medical attention. He was replaced by Trouble Banda.

Civil Service continued to press. In the 25th minute, Khumbo Mhone floated a cross from the right flank, and Righteous Banda’s powerful shot deflected off Laurent Banda for a corner which Eagles defended successfully.

At the half-hour mark, the home side won another corner after Ganizani James deflected the ball out. Damiano Kunje’s delivery was cleared by Maxwell Gustavo.

Moments later, Lanken Mwale found Sankhani Mkandawire with a free kick from the far right, but Mkandawire’s glancing header hit the side netting in the 33rd minute.

Eagles had their best chance in the 35th minute when Lanken Mwale, set through by Gilbert Chirwa, forced a save from goalkeeper Rahaman John.

In the 42nd minute, Chikaiko Batison headed wide from a dangerous cross by Kunje.

However, three minutes into added time, Batison made no mistake, heading home Charles Mafaiti’s swinging cross from the byline to give Civil Service a 1-0 lead at the break.

Civil Service came out with greater intensity and dominated the midfield.

In the 54th minute, the hosts completed 13 passes before Kunje curled a cross to Dastain Banda, whose effort found the net to make it 2-0.

Just four minutes later, Civil Service extended their lead.

Frank Chizuze capitalized on a defensive error, connecting with a Chikaiko Batison pass to make it 2-0 in the 58th minute.

Coach Msakakuona responded immediately with a double substitution in the 59th minute, bringing on Micium Mhone and Tonic Viyuyi for Webster Mzunda and Lanken Mwale.

Eagles kept pushing for goals but struggled to maintain possession as Civil Service controlled the tempo.

The visitors lacked fluidity in their play and continually lost the ball in midfield.

Substitute Micium Mhone pulled one back in the 74th minute.

Laurent Banda delivered a high ball into the box, and after both Mkandawire and defender, Dambuleni failed to deal with it, Mhone pounced on the loose ball and unleashed a powerful shot into the net.

Just as Eagles hoped to mount a comeback, they conceded again in the 79th minute.

Dastain Banda beat Sankhani Mkandawire with a clever dummy before slotting past Missi into an empty net to restore the three-goal cushion at 3-1.

Eagles made further changes, with John Banda and Arthur Moffat replacing Maxwell Gustavo and Gilbert Chirwa as the formation switched from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2.

While Banda helped stabilize the midfield, the changes came too late.

Pius Saka received a yellow card in the 90th minute for a foul on Kunje.

In the closing minutes, Eagles pressed with urgency but lacked the precision needed to threaten the Civil Service goal.

The final whistle confirmed a disappointing defeat and completed a league double for Civil Service, who also won 2-0 at Nankhaka Stadium in the first round.

Civil Service United Assistant coach Joseph Kachuke praised his boys for executing the game plan well, “The boys followed what we told them to do hence the victory.

“We are very grad we haven’t lost any game since June this just tells you that our players are focused and following what they are being told during training”, said Kachule.

His counterpart Blue Eagles FC Head Coach, Deklek Msakakuona said: “We have ten games remaining before we wrap up the season, and we will assess how to approach and finish the league.

“Conceding those two goals in the first and second half demoralized us, but we must prepare for our next assignment on Wednesday at home.”

With the victory the servants are now on position 5 with 36 points tied with the defending Champions who have two games in hand as Civil has played more, 20.

Despite the loss, Eagles remain in 7th position with 28 points from 20 games.

The team’s next match is against Mighty Wanderers FC at home at Nankhaka Stadium on Wednesday.

Wanderers defeated the cops 3-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre during the first round.

Mick Jagger, 82, Enjoys Public Date Night With Fiancee Melanie Hamrick, 38

Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick enjoyed a fun night on the town!

Jagger, 82, and his fiancée Hamrick, 38, made a rare appearance at the British Museum Ball in London on Saturday, October 18. The pair were all smiles while walking the red carpet and posing for photos. The Rolling Stones frontman wore a blue and black jacket for the occasion, while Hamrick shined in a golden gown adorned with floral details.

While speaking exclusively to Us in May, Hamrick explained there are several big reasons why she and Jagger keep their relationship out of the public eye, but the most important is that to her it’s worth protecting. She also compared the decision to her time as a professional ballet dance.

“I think family is so personal, and it’s a bubble,” she said.“It’s nice to share things, but it’s like the ballet: there needs to be a mystery or people are going to get sick of you.”

Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova’s Relationship Timeline

Hamrick confirmed to Paris Match in April that she and Jagger are engaged, noting that the rock star proposed “two or three years ago” despite the fact that they didn’t share the news widely.

“Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not,” Hamrick said. “We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything.”

The duo first met back in 2014 in Tokyo, where Hamrick was performing alongside the rest of the American Ballet Theatre and the Rolling Stones were performing. They began dating in 2015, and their pairing immediately drew attention due to their 44-year age gap.

“I don’t think about it. Everyone’s going to have their opinion. If you think about others’ opinions, no matter where you are in life, you’re going to have a problem and you’re going to analyze it,” Hamrick told The Sunday Times in September 2024. “I put the blinders on. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. OK, they can mind their own business.”

Hamrick also revealed she wasn’t especially phased by Jagger when they met. “Ballet dancers meet some of the biggest stars and act, like, ‘Who are you?’ Because, to us, ballet dancers are the gods. That’s who you study and look up to. You’re so in your world,” Hamrick explained.

Though they haven’t yet walked down the aisle, the pair have made other commitments to one another. Their son Deveraux — the rock star’s eighth child and Hamrick’s first — joined the family in December 2016.

“Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York, and they are both delighted,” Jagger’s rep told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”

Callum Turner Reveals ‘Rule’ of Managing Long Distance With Fiancee Dua Lipa

Fiancés Callum Turner and Dua Lipa are lucky in love — so much so that they can conquer long-distance dating with ease.

“Well, FaceTime is a wonderful thing, and the other rule is that it’s never not worth it — that’s our slogan,” Turner, 35, told The Times of London in a profile published on Saturday, October 18. “If you can go for two days, just f***ing go, and if you’re tired, it doesn’t matter because you’re going to have a nice time and have a nice memory.”

Turner further revealed that he recently jetted off to Boston for a two-day trip just to catch up with Lipa, 30, in between her tour and his filming commitments.

“I was exhausted, but we had a really nice time. We went to an incredible restaurant, Neptune or something — I always forget the name of places,” Turner recalled to the outlet. “Thank God for her because she remembers everything. It was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in my life, and I did it with her so I’m glad I went.”

Inside Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s Romantic European Summer: ‘So in Love’

The Eternity star and Lipa have been together since January 2024.

“We had maybe two, three, four, five near-misses over our time where we didn’t meet,” Turner told The Times of the origin of the pair’s love story. “There’s one where she went to a party and then I went to a party, but I arrived minutes after she left. I arrived at 2 in the morning and she left at 1:45. … There were loads of things like that and then, when we were both able to, we were both single and whatever, I just thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world.”

Turner and Lipa finally met when they attended a mutual friend’s birthday party in Los Angeles.

“We sat next to each other and realized we were reading the same book, which is crazy. It’s called Trust [by Hernán Díaz],” Turner quipped. “I had just finished the first chapter and I told her and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’ I said, ‘So, we’re on the same page.’”

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner’s Relationship Timeline

He continued, “In the movie version of it, I look up to the sky and I’m like, ‘I hear you. I understand.’ The signs are loud, and that was really the first [moment we shared].”

As Turner and Lipa’s romance heated up, they introduced one another to their families.

“She wanted my mum to like her,” Turner added to the Times. “I was nervous meeting her parents too. I wanted her parents to like me.”

Once Turner and Lipa got the approval of one another’s parents, things escalated even more. The “Levitating” singer and Turner made their red carpet debut at the 2025 Met Gala in May, one month before revealing their engagement.

“We’re engaged. It’s very exciting,” Lipa told British Vogue in a June profile. “It’s very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever. It’s a really special feeling.”
