Rainfall had reached 230% of normal levels by the morning of Wednesday, May 27, with six areas having received more than three times the normal rainfall for the month.
Specifically, these areas are the new port of Limassol (360% of normal rainfall), Paphos Airport (394% of normal), Polis Chrysochous (375% of normal), Stavros tis Psokas (371% of normal), Prodromos (309% of normal), and Xylotymbou (327% of normal).
According to preliminary data released on Wednesday by the Meteorological Service, the average total rainfall from May 1 through 9:00 a.m. on May 27 amounted to 45.1 millimeters, while the average normal rainfall for the month is 19.6 millimeters.
The highest rainfall during the same period was recorded in Prodromos with 114.1 millimeters, corresponding to 309% of the normal amount for the region, at Stavros tis Psokas with 100.8 millimeters, corresponding to 371% of the normal amount, at Saitas with 88.8 millimeters (244% of the normal amount), Platania with 80.6 millimeters (193% of normal), and Pano Panagia with 67.8 millimeters (235% of normal).
In contrast, the lowest amount of rainfall was recorded at Larnaca Airport with 13.6 millimeters, corresponding to 143% of the normal rainfall for the area, in Athienou and Frenaros with 15.1 and 18.3 millimeters, respectively (83% and 171% of normal, respectively).
