22nd Amendment to be presented to Parliament Tuesday

The Government will present the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which seeks to extend the retirement age of Superior Court judges, to Parliament on Tuesday (18), Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara said yesterday.

He said the related Judicature (Amendment) Bill would also be presented on the same day.

The 22nd Amendment proposes raising the mandatory retirement age of Supreme Court judges from 65 to 67 and Court of Appeal judges from 63 to 65.
