Dr Aminu Yusuf Talban Wushishi, Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), has died about eight months after assuming office.
Wushishi reportedly died on Friday, August 28, 2026, after a brief illness.
News of his death reached Minna, Niger State, around the time of the Jumaat prayer.
His death was confirmed by a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State, Barrister Tanko Benji.
‘Aminu is dead. I am saddened and not in a good mood now,’ Benji told Blueprint.ng while confirming the development.
Sources close to the family and a senior presidential source also confirmed the death.
However, the circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.
At the time of filing this report, neither the NPC nor the deceased’s family had issued an official statement on his death or announced burial arrangements.
