Kapuso actor Jak Roberto is not closing the door on being friends with ex-girlfriend and fellow actor Barbie Forteza, whom he dated for seven years.
Jak appeared on the October 10 episode of ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ where the television host surprised him by asking if he was courting his ‘My Father’s Wife’ co-star Kylie Padilla.
The actor initially just stared and smiled before outright stating he was not courting Kylie, stressing they are only comfortable with each other after having worked together on ‘Bolera’ three years ago.
He went on to praise Kylie’s openness in scenes, her acting talent, and how easy she is to talk to.
Boy then brought up Jak purchasing toys for Kylie’s sons, Alas and Axl, which the actor clarified he bought so the children would have things to keep them occupied while Kylie was in Australia for a couple of weeks, before circling back to the topic of courting Kylie.
‘Hindi siya mahirap mahalin. Napaka-open at genuine, napakatalinong kausap. For me, wala sigurong guy na hindi mai-in love sa kanya dahil ganun siya ka-genuine na tao,’ Jak said.
The actor added he would not consider courting Kylie at the moment, as he wants to cherish the friendship they have built.
Later in the episode, Boy jokingly asked Jak if his love language was buying toys, to which Jak laughed and replied, ‘Depends.’
7 years with Barbie
The episode also saw Jak address his seven-year relationship with Barbie, who announced their breakup just as 2025 began.
Boy asked Jak what he learned from the relationship, to which the actor replied that Barbie molded him into the man he is today.
Inspired by Barbie, Jak said he ventured into business and began building his own house.
‘Malaking parte siya ng pitong taon na ‘yun. Siyempre malaking parte siya ng puso ko, kasi hindi naman biro ang seven years,’ Jak said, expressing gratitude for what they shared.
Asked if he and Barbie were on friendly terms, Jak said he has remained friends with past partners, so he sees no issue doing the same with Barbie.
The only time Jak and Barbie spoke after the breakup was during GMA Network’s Beyond 75 anniversary event last June – a conversation Jak described as closure for him.
Boy later mentioned rumors that Jameson Blake, Barbie’s ‘Kontrabida Academy’ co-star, was courting the actress and that Jak had said ‘it’s about time’ Barbie met someone new.
Jak shared that he and Jameson had met while modeling for a clothing line, and during their last conversation, they discussed Barbie and how great a person she is.
‘You have to be happy na lang sa tao, kaibigan mo man o ka-relasyon na naghiwalay or nagtatampuhan, magwi-wish ka na lang lagi ng maganda para sa kanila,’ Jak said.
The actor ended by saying he had no regrets from his seven years with Barbie and reiterated what he previously told Boy – that the secret to a long relationship is pure commitment.
