South Korean actor Ji Chang-wook arrived in Manila on a stormy day, but that didn’t stop Filipino fans from giving the K-drama heartthrob a warm welcome.
During a brief press conference on Sunday, Oct. 19, for the 8th anniversary celebration of a Filipino wellness brand, Chang-wook expressed how grateful he was to Filipino fans for their unconditional love for him.
‘I would actually say that I’m very, very thankful for your unconditional love for me. I want to meet you guys more often,’ he said via interpreter.
‘To actually be recognized and to be loved by our fans abroad, that fact itself is already amazing and surprising to me,’ continued the Korean actor.
Chang-wook described the Filipinos as ‘hospitable,’ as he promises to be a better actor and work more on projects for his fans.
The 38-year-old actor gamely posed for photos and interacted with the members of the press, openly shaking their hands during the press conference.
Chang-wook is set to share the stage with rising K-pop boy group NTX and the nation’s girl group BINI for the brand’s DOMIN8: Grand Anniversary concert tonight at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
Also joining the K-drama actor onstage are other Filipino stars such as Marian Rivera, Shuvee Etrata and Charlie Fleming.
Ahead of Chang-wook’s appearance in concert, the ‘K2’ actor met with megastar Sharon Cuneta, as seen in the photo posted by the Filipina actress on her Instagram page.
‘So happy and honored to have met you! Thank you so much for being so nice and kind,’ Cuneta captioned their photo.
Chang-wook is known for his breakout performances in hit dramas such as ‘Healer,’ ‘The K2’ and ‘Empress Ki.’ He recently starred in the psychological thriller ‘The Worst of Evil’ and the mystery series ‘The Sound of Magic.’
The Korean star first visited the Philippines in 2022. He also met with his Filipino fans last year.
