7m visit in H1, B263bn in Phuket revenue

Phuket generated 263 billion baht in tourism revenue during the first six months of this year, attracting nearly seven million visitors, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The TAT Phuket Office reported on Tuesday that the island welcomed 6.96 million visitors between January and June, generating 263.01 billion baht in revenue. It said hotels recorded an average occupancy rate of 81.85% during the period.

Russia remained Phuket’s largest source market with 574,315 visitors, followed by China (314,130), the United Kingdom (123,413), Australia (123,332), Germany (98,143), France (96,712), Kazakhstan (77,022), Malaysia (76,445) and South Korea (69,958).

Speaking on the first day of a three-day public holiday on Tuesday, TAT Phuket director Siriwan Seeharach said tourism activity remained strong during the long holiday, which includes His Majesty the King’s birthday on Tuesday, Asalha Bucha Day on Wednesday and the start of Buddhist Lent on Thursday.

A separate survey that covered about 30% of hotels across Phuket found an average occupancy rate of 60.79%, with visitors staying an average of 2.02 nights. Thai tourists were expected to make 62,211 visits during the holiday, generating an estimated 329.73 million baht in tourism revenue, or an average of 5,454 baht per person each day.

To sustain growth, several international airlines have launched or announced new services to Phuket in the second half of 2026.
