Delta govt suspends commissioner

Delta State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Izeze Reuben, indefinitely with immediate effect.

The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Emu.

The statement said the suspension was to enable security agencies conduct an unbiased investigation into allegations linking the commissioner to the recent assault of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, Mr Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple, at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.

The government said the suspension would allow the security agencies to carry out their investigation without interference.

The statement added that the government remained committed to maintaining public safety, law and order, as well as protecting the sanctity of lives.

The government said the principle applied even when institutions or officials of the state were involved.
