President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated renowned legal luminary, elder statesman and Mutawalin of Ilorin, Dr. Muhammed Alimi AbdulRazaq, on his 70th birthday, describing him as an accomplished legal practitioner, respected community leader and patriot whose distinguished career has inspired generations of Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended AbdulRazaq’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession and Nigeria’s institutional development over several decades of public service.
Tinubu particularly praised the celebrant’s pioneering role as the first Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), noting that he laid the foundation for the regulation of Nigeria’s electricity industry and helped shape reforms that continue to guide the country’s power sector.
The President also lauded AbdulRazaq’s commitment to advancing education through the establishment of Bridge House College, Ikoyi, Lagos, saying the institution has continued to nurture young Nigerians in academic excellence, leadership and responsible citizenship.
He further acknowledged the legal icon’s contributions to corporate governance as a Non-Executive Director of First Bank Holdings Plc, where, according to him, his vast experience and sound judgement have continued to strengthen one of the country’s foremost financial institutions.
Congratulating the elder statesman on the milestone, Tinubu said AbdulRazaq’s enduring commitment to justice, education and institutional excellence had earned him a place among Nigeria’s most respected public figures.
‘As you celebrate this significant milestone, I salute your distinguished record of service to our nation, your steadfast commitment to justice, education, and institutional excellence, as well as your enduring legacy of leadership. Your contributions to Nigeria’s development remain worthy of commendation.
