The Kwara North Consultative Forum (KNCF) has appealed to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), traditional rulers, political leaders and other stakeholders across the district to give Moro Local Government fair and equitable political representation ahead of the 2027 general election.
The forum said the appeal followed the need to strengthen unity in Kwara North and ensuring that every part of the district felt a sense of belonging.
In a statement signed by Ahmed Ndagi Ibrahim and Isiaha Samuel, both of Edu Local Government, and Muhammed Sodiq Nagiya and Muhammad Baba Muhammad, of Patigi Local Government, KNCF noted that Moro had not produced a senator or a member of the House of Representatives since the return of democratic rule in 1999, while other local government areas in the senatorial district had occupied these positions at different times.
‘We believe this reality deserves careful reflection, not because any community is more important than another, but because fairness and inclusion remain the foundation of enduring political stability,’ the statement read.
The forum urged the APC leadership to view the 2027 election as an opportunity to reinforce confidence in its commitment to justice, equity and internal democracy, adding that it was encouraged by the emergence of a credible aspirant from Moro during the APC primary for the Edu, Moro and Patigi Federal Constituency.
KNCF expressed hope that the outcome of the democratic process would continue to receive the respect and protection it deserves, stating that giving Moro a fair opportunity was not merely about satisfying one local government but about consolidating the APC’s strength across Kwara North, preserving unity among party faithful and preventing avoidable political discontent that could affect the party’s electoral fortunes.
‘This appeal should therefore not be mistaken for agitation or confrontation. Rather, it is a sincere call for inclusiveness and a reminder that every community deserves hope, recognition and a realistic opportunity to contribute to the political development of our district,’ the statement added.
The forum also called on political leaders, elders, traditional rulers and stakeholders across Kwara North to continue playing their fatherly roles by encouraging dialogue, fairness and decisions that promote lasting harmony in the district, saying the APC would emerge stronger and better positioned for future electoral success when every local government felt a genuine sense of belonging.
